Canadian Pacific Railway Company Flatware
by Jacques Marc
Canadian Pacific Railway Company Flatware, documents more than 227 flatware patterns used in Canadian Pacific hotels, steamships, dining cars and airline operations.
Whether it was aboard trains, in hotels, on ships or in the air Canadian Pacific had to feed people. This necessitated the purchase of dining china, flatware, and glassware. The Toronto Silverplate Co. manufactured one of the first known orders of Canadian Pacific flatware. This order was prepared to equip the dining car "Savoy" on display at the Chicago World's Fair in 1893. One of the last patterns produced for Canadian Pacific was the Oneida Baronet pattern stamped with the CP-Delta crest in 1998.
This book provides an overview of the Canadian Pacific Railway Company and its principal operations. It examines the history and evolution of dining flatware in general. It documents known flatware pattens top marked or backstamped with the Canadian Pacific name, initials, or monograms. The most useful aspect of this book is that it provides photos of the known Canadian Pacific flatware patterns and attempts to provide a date range for each pattern. This book will be of interest to collectors, dealers, and museum technicians, who want to know more about the CPR flatware in their collections.
The book is available from the author for $65 CDN plus shipping. Flat rate shipping within Canada is $20.98. Shipping to the USA by air mail will be $22.80. If you are interested in purchasing a copy, send an email to
